Gold vermeil is a technique that involves applying a thick layer of gold onto sterling silver. The gold layer in vermeil must be over 2.5 microns, making it five times thicker than typical gold plating and more durable.

IS GOLD VERMEIL REAL GOLD?

Gold vermeil is indeed real gold, with a base of sterling silver that is coated with a thick layer of 18-carat gold. This makes it a high-quality and durable option for jewelry. 

HOW DO I CLEAN GOLD VERMEIL JEWELRY?

To clean gold jewelry at home, use a gentle polishing cloth on your gold vermeil pieces. Ensure that the cloth is clean and dry, and then gently rub the piece in one direction to remove any dirt. This method is effective for maintaining the shine and beauty of your gold jewelry.

HOW LONG DOES GOLD VERMEIL LAST?

Gold vermeil is known for its durability due to its thicker gold layer. To maintain your jewelry, clean it regularly and avoid exposing it to liquids. Store it in a separate pouch to prevent scratches and tarnishing. Proper care will help your necklaces and bracelets last for years to come.

Gold plating is a form of jewelry plating, but specifically with gold as the layer on the outside over a base metal which makes pieces stronger and less likely to bend. Over time, the base metal may eventually come to the surface then begin to discolor. This process breaks the gold down and requires proper polishing and maintenance to restore its shine. It is important to take care of your jewelry so the to prolong the life of your pieces. 

Sterling silver tarnishes when exposed to salty air, chlorine, sulfur, humidity, perspiration, cosmetics, household bleach and other strong chemicals. To prevent tarnish, we recommend that you store your fine jewelry in a safe, dry place such as the pouch provided with your purchase.  To figure out your ring size at home, we recommend following these steps:

1. Cut a thin strip of paper or string that measures the approximate length of your hand.
2. Wrap the paper or string around the finger you’ll be wearing the ring on. It should be wrapped snugly, but not too tight.
3. Mark the point where the paper or string overlaps around the circumference of your finger. 
4. Using the millimeter or inch side of a ruler, lay the paper or string flat and measure the length from one end to the marking. That measurement will be your finger’s circumference.
